Seminar at Akeri

The recent rain had made the road slippery and there had been some souring on the road surface but the Toyota was full and the weight made it easier to control.
The whole of Akeri Primary School turned out to listen to us and Loti proved to be a good MC because he knew well the protocols of schools and churches. He introduced us formally and what our role was. We had Joshia with us, so he recieved special attention.

Loti began with the flip chart 'Mazingira ni nini?' [What is the environment?] - when smaller kids are involved we shorten the content because they fade more quickly, Mags performed and had the kids join in with the song 'Tunapenda', I butted in with my role plays and Joshia performed (for that's what he did) the story 'Ndoto ya Grace'.

Joshia though gave us all a lesson on how to get the kids involved and has them singing, clapping and dancing; one small girl was encouraged to stand on a desk and lead the school singing 'Tunapenda' - this girl was remarkable because of her truly beautiful voice and he ability to have the school follow her.

I explained how the planting programme would proceed with the preparation of holes and the supply of trees.
An election was held to appoint five environmental prefects and we presented each with a badge (of office).

This was generally how we set about the seminars and our performance improved each time we ran it. But this one was so positive it was an encouragement to us all.
